Night Kite

SMARTPapers Kite Design Competition, FINALIST
Exhibited: The Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum March 2003

SOLUTION: Sometimes you gotta do something because it is fun, go fly a kite!

Night Kite reimagined and reversed Ben Franklin’s kite and key experiment to send controlled electricity up, rather than chaotically coming down.

Selected as a Finalist in the SMARTPapers Kite Design Competition by a jury including one of the most celebrated graphic designers in the world, Milton Glaser. Night Kite was exhibited at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C., in March 2003.

This pre-drone-era project was born out of 3M’s 15% Policy Program, which aims to incubate employee ideas in hopes of discovering the future (accidental) successes like Post-It Notes and Scotchguard.
