THE CHALLENGE:
One big,wonderful
whack-a-mole of a design problem
Three simultaneous, separate art fairs; Main Street District, State Street District, and The Original.
NEED FOR DISTINCTION DURING THE EVENT
Confusion with other Ann Arbor-based, art-focused, acronymed, local non-profit peers competing for mindshare
NEED FOR DISTINCTION YEAR ROUND/SEASONAL
Varied venues and use cases (wayfinding, merchandise, development, artist’s resources, for staff, volunteers, laborers, more...
Not to mention the contemporary meaning of anything ending in “AF”
BRAND IDENTITY DESIGN
Ann Arbor Street Art Fair, The Original
The concept represents where art, artists and the community connect and meet IRL.
An agile design system strategically positions this fair by enabling a range of critical stories to be easily told; for development, for artists, for visitors, for partners, et al. This system adapts to frame and brand artist images and materials for mutual association and recognizable endorsement across multiple platforms.
Clear, consistent, tactical graphics; adaptable for scale - wayfinding, merchandise, org/staff, distinguishing one event relative to other concurrent, adjacent fairs.
Established in 1969, the Ann Arbor Street Art Fair
is one of the premiere juried, fine art fairs in the country, with an estimated annual attendance
of 350,000+ over three days.
